3D-Hypersurface

The 3D-Hypersurface is a unique curved one-sided hyper minimal surface, akin to a Mobius strip. It exists in higher-dimensional space but is projected into 3D space for construction. Its form is conceived as a tensioned membrane, it challenges traditional architectural and biological concepts by its lack of a distinct interior or exterior. The structure is constructed from flat rigid sheets of alucobond, cut into 5000+ contoured parts and assembled as a monocoq shell using a strong structural adhesive. Despite initial ideas of embedding positional information, experiments reveal the need for gravity responsiveness, especially for formwork-free assembly.
